Remember John Krasinski from The Office and Promised Land? Well, now he stars in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, which is streaming on Amazon this summer. Jack Ryan is an up-and-coming CIA analyst that is thrust into terrorist situations. Another new summer TV series is Sharp Objects, airing on HBO. Amy Adams of American Hustle stars in and is a producer on this new show, based on the book of the same name by Gillian Flynn. After a brief stay in a psych ward, Amy Adams’ character Camille is brought back to her hometown to cover the murders of two preteens.  Camille finds herself connecting with the girls’ lives and experiences more than she ever expected.

Killing Eve, starring Grey’s Anatomy favorite, Sandra Oh, is a new spy drama.  Think 007 with lots of action, dry wit, and suspense. This action-packed series, debuting on BBC America, is based on the novella Codename Villanelle by Luke Jennings.

A Very English Scandal, starring Hugh Grant, should capture your attention especially if you are a fan of British scandal and intrigue! This is true story based on a Member of Parliament murdering his ex-lover. The series, airing on BBC One, is based on the book of the same name written by John Preston is recommended for fans of Downton Abbey and the like.  

Strange Angel is a web series airing on CBS All Access.  The show is based on the biography, Strange Angel: The Otherworldly Life of Rocket Scientist John Whiteside Parsons by George Pendle. The series follows the brilliant Jack Parsons, a rocket scientist that lived an out-of-this world crazy life. Chemical explosions, occultist happenings, and other otherworldly events make up this man’s irreverent life story.
