Library System to Upgrade Public Internet Workstations
Posted Date: 12/12/2008 9:46 AM

Starting on Thursday, December 13, 2008, The Lower Merion Library System (LMLS) will begin replacing the public internet computers located at all of the LMLS libraries with new computers. The upgrade project will begin this week at the Ludington Public Library, and is expected to last through January 30, 2009.

The new machines will have all of the programs and web browsers available in the older machines. The new computers however, will have more current technology, a speedier CPU, and more memory. Patrons can look forward to conducting their searches, doing homework, answering email, searching for jobs, and playing online games on a much faster PC than before.

Funding for the upgrade was provided by the Lower Merion Library System Board and by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Online Opportunity Hardware Grant Program.
